RealityResume
Built because
students deserve a real answer.
RealityResume exists because too many students are working hard without knowing whether they are actually moving in the right direction.
True realities, from resumes. For Students, by Students.
Why this exists
Built by a student who got tired of guessing.
The founder story
Henry Kyaw
Computer Science student at Brooklyn College
2024
Came to the United States and had to adjust quickly to a new academic, professional, and everyday environment.
2 jobs
Worked while going to school and paying college costs out of pocket, which meant career fairs and advisor appointments were not always easy to fit into real life.
1 question
Am I actually doing enough?
RealityResume started from a problem that kept showing up over and over again. Students were working, studying, applying, taking internships, building projects, and trying to figure out American career culture while still having no clear answer about where they actually stood.
Some students had strong looking job titles with weak experience behind them. Some had great experience at places nobody recognized. Some were doing way better than they thought. Others were falling behind and nobody wanted to tell them until graduation was getting close.
Students do not need another review that only sounds nice. They need to know where they actually stand.
Our philosophy
Reality can be rude. We deliver it crude.
We are not here to bullshit you about your resume. We are not going to tell you everything looks amazing because encouragement sounds nicer.
None of that
We are not going to tell you your career trajectory is struggling because Mercury is in retrograde, you are a Gemini, or somehow that means you are a fucking asparagus.
We look at what is actually there. Your internships. Your employers. Your progression. Your major. Your projects. Your skills. Your time. Your opportunities. And what you have actually done with all of it.
🙂
Sometimes the answer feels good.
💀
Sometimes it really does not.
If your college career is moving in the wrong direction, we would rather tell you now while you still have time to turn it 180 degrees around.
What RealityResume actually does
More than “add more action verbs.”
Reads the whole story
Not just keywords. We look at your internships, jobs, projects, school timeline, progression, evidence, and what you actually did.
Judges opportunity quality
A fancy title is not enough. We look at the work behind it, how selective the opportunity appears, and whether it actually moves your career forward.
Measures progression
Your first job does not need to be insane. What matters is whether your resume shows that each semester, role, and project is building toward something stronger.
Tells you what needs work
Sometimes you are ahead. Sometimes you are behind. Sometimes the answer is uncomfortable. We would rather tell you while you still have time to fix it.
Built from a student perspective
One answer. A lot of perspectives.
RealityResume was not built to replace recruiters, counselors, mentors, parents, professors, or your brutally honest friend. It was built because most students do not have all of them available every time they need an answer.
Your bro
Will tell you when something looks off.
Counselor
Knows the professional basics.
Advisor
Sees the academic trajectory.
Mentor
Looks at where you could realistically go next.
Drunk uncle
Somehow has an opinion anyway.
One review. Everybody's opinion.
Think of it like getting one answer from your bro, your college counselor, your advisor, your parents, your mentor, and that one drunk uncle who somehow always has an opinion.
For Students, by Students
Career preparation should work for real student life.
RealityResume was made for the student working between classes. The commuter student. The immigrant student. The student paying their own bills. The student who missed the career fair because they were at work. The freshman who has no idea where to start. The senior wondering whether they wasted three years. And the student who simply wants somebody to give them a straight answer.
Where am I right now?
What am I already doing right?
What is holding me back?
What should I actually do next?
Trust matters
Your resume is personal. We treat it that way.
RealityResume needs your resume to analyze it. The current MVP is not designed as a permanent student resume vault. Before public launch, our privacy policy will clearly explain what gets processed, what is temporarily used for the review flow, and which services are involved.
🔒
No hidden student profile
Your upload is for the review experience, not to quietly turn you into a public profile.
🧠
Analysis needs processing
The system has to read your resume to produce the review, so we will be transparent about that processing.
📄
Clear policy before launch
No vague privacy promises. The public version will explain the data flow in plain language.
Enough about us
Let's see what your resume actually says about you.
No horoscope. No glaze. No fake recruiter voice. Just the resume, the evidence, and the reality check.
